I am pleased to share that I am part of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Trade Wars, Geopolitical Fragmentation and Repercussions for Financial and Monetary Stability.
The conference is jointly organised by Brunel University of London and the University of Leeds . It will take place at Brunel University of London, in London, on 4–5 November 2026.
The topic is especially relevant for current debates in international macroeconomics and finance. Trade wars, geopolitical fragmentation, tariff shocks, and financial decoupling raise important questions about global imbalances, capital flows, exchange rates, monetary policy, central banking, and financial stability.
The conference covers several issues at the intersection of international economics and macro-finance, including the role of central banks and macroprudential policy during trade conflicts, currency weaponisation, competitive devaluation, financial instability, de-dollarisation, and the evolution of the international monetary and financial architecture.
The conference will feature Professor Beata Javorcik as keynote speaker. Professor Javorcik is Chief Economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London and is Professorship of Economics at the University of Oxford. Her work on international trade, firms, and globalisation is closely connected to the conference themes, especially the economic and financial consequences of trade fragmentation.
The programme will also include panel discussants with major contributions to macroeconomics, monetary economics, international finance, and economic policy: Professor Ricardo Reis from the London School of Economics, Professor Gulcin Ozkan from King’s College London, and Professor Jagjit Chadha from the University of Cambridge. Their participation will enrich the discussion on monetary and financial stability in an increasingly fragmented international economic environment.
The submission deadline is 1 September 2026. Notification of participation is scheduled for 14 September 2026, and the registration deadline is 30 September 2026.
Papers accepted at the conference will also be considered for a special issue of the Journal of International Money and Finance, subject to the usual peer-review process. More details are available on the conference page dedicated to publication opportunities.
The paper submission platform is available through Conference Maker.
More information is available on the official conference website.
