Climate Change and Extreme Events

Temperature changes may not be a good indicator or instrument for climate change or vulnerability to climate change.

This nice visualization pushes me to think that the annual chance of extreme events increases even after controlling for the temperature changes in our current climate regime. Besides, hotter temperatures do not necessarily imply an increase in the probability of extreme events.

We need some estimates of the area between the three points in the figure below.
